OCR Integration for Increase of Efficiency in Document Processing
FineReader 7.0 Scripting Edition's Automation Application Programming Interface (API) makes it easy to integrate ABBYY OCR technology into document management systems, electronic archives, or any other external information system. Developers can quickly create efficient systems through customization, extension and automation of the FineReader application. With the API developers can:
- Customize and extend the FineReader's interface and functionality to create advanced document processing operations such as adding, removing and modifying commands, menu functions and buttons, changing the behavior of the status bar, warning messages, particular dialog boxes, the arrangement of FineReader windows, etc.
- Associate external data (custom user properties) with particular internal FineReader objects, such as pages (images in a batch) and blocks in a page. For example, a document ID can be associated with pages in a batch.
- Create program scripts to automate recurring tasks, thereby streamlining repeated actions with a single menu command or button.
This functionality can be used to create workstations tailored to specific functions, such as scanning, registration or verification. As a result the efficiency of the overall system is enhanced through limitation of tasks per operator complexity, increase of total throughput, training simplificatin, and reduction of operators' errors.
With FineReader Scripting Edition integrators and VARs can take advantage of ABBYY's time-proven award-winning OCR technologies by writing just a few lines of code. Customizable and ready-to-use OCR shell saves time and allows quick development and rapid deployment.
