Canon introduces the smallest 11X17 business class scanner available on the market!
Canon ROCKS the industry with the newest desktop “Native 11X17” Capable Document Scanner.
Why choose the Canon M1060 over the competition? In my personal opinion the M1060 11X17 scanner is going to be the best solution for those customers looking to scan a small amount of 11X17 documents. Plus the New M1060 scanner is not going to break the bank. Keep in mind most 11X17 scanners are made for mid volume production scanning so those scanners cost much more to purchase. The example would be the Canon DR-6030C and the Fujitsu 6670 PSIP Scanners.
Fujitsu Fi-6670 PSIP Scanner has a street price around $4,200.00
Did I mention it is portable. This small M1060 scanner is small enough to fit in a laptop bag allowing end users to take the portable scanner on the road. Great for construction scanning, portable tax scanning, legal scanning especially for the attorney on the road or in the courtroom, Financial Services, Healthcare and many more. With the long document mode you will be able to scan documents with lengths up to 118″. This scanner’s minimalistic design can help to maximize your desk space and leave plenty of room to tackle other important office tasks.
Total Cost of Ownership. The Canon M1060 again will not break the bank. The unit comes with a 1 year manufacture warranty (AUR) this allows the customer complete confidence in scanning for the 1st year and if the scanner does have a manufactured problem the unit will be replaced allowing the customer to be up and running the next day. The customer has the option to purchase POST Warranty service on the Canon M1060 scanner for less than the larger Canon or Fujitsu models. The annual service on the M1060 Scanner is about $445.00 per year or you can opt for the multi year value ad contracts at discounted prices. Replacement Roller Kits can be purchased to ensure proper feeding during the course of the year as needed and are end user replaceable. Thus keeping the cost down and the Total Cost of Ownership minimal. The Canon M1060 scanner is a great low cost scanner for the consumer that has the need for 11X17 scanning down to business card size documents.

When to purchase a discontinued or used scanner and when it’s important to buy new!
We are asked all the time at Scanner One… do you have any used scanners? Most of the time we only have one or two scanners in the used area. So, when is a good time to purchase a used scanner. In most cases it is a good time to purchase one when the unit has a low scan count. Look at the total number of scans on the unit. If the unit is rated for 1,000 to 2,000 pages per day and the unit only has 3,000 scans on it then this is a great buy. Make sure the scanner is in working condition and it actually scans well enough to produce images which look good.
Now if you are looking at a scanner and it is one of those large high volume document scanners then you want to be a little more cautious. These scanners can scan a couple of million scans in a year. So if you find one that has 1 million scans on it you want to look at the following;
How old the scanner is
How long was it used during the scan project
Do you have a history of the scanner
Make sure it was under service during the project
Does the unit come with a warranty or can you purchase an extended warranty
Make sure if the unit has been discontinued by the manufacture they still make parts. Nothing worse than buying a scanner and finding out parts are no longer available.
When you purchase a used scanner make sure to purchase the additional roller kit. Most of the time a company will not replace the rollers because of the cost. With used equipment most resellers want to keep the cost down so they can move the equipment fast. We generally only have used equipment for about a week. The equipment moves fast and our customers call us on a regular bases asking what we have for inventory. To help our customers with our inventory of used scanners we have a link now for Used/Demo equipment http://www.scannerone.com/deals.php
What is a good price for a used document scanner?
It depends on the scanner. WE generally price our scanners around half of the price of a new scanner. When purchasing small desktop scanners or “Small Office” used Document Scanners make sure you get a good price on the unit. Today these scanners are considered disposable scanners. So if you purchase a used scanner for $300.00 and it last you 18 months or longer then that is a great used document scanner. If you purchase a used scanner for $300.00 and it last 3 months then that was a bad purchase. In this case you may want to look at a new scanner that comes with a manufacture warranty.
Extended Warranty Options
Most companies will offer extended warranties for small office scanners. These warranties usually run about $99.00 for the year. The extended warranty could be a great way for you to protect your investment for as little as $.27 cents a day. Again, keep in mind replacement roller kits are never included in the extended warranties. You will need to purchase those as you need them.
Did you know the Fujitsu 6130 scanner was discontinued and replaced by the NEW Fujitsu 6130Z document scanner! Same goes for the 6140 which was replaced by the Fujitsu 6140Z.
Most of the time when a company is looking to purchase a scanner they are purchasing based on someone else’s recommendations. Be it a software providers recommendations, an associates recommendation or from attending a trade show. In most cases you may not have the most current information. That is why it is always best to call and talk to a qualified representative from the manufacture or a Premier Partner like Scanner One, Inc.
