Canon Fast Duplex WiFi scanner

Fast Duplex WiFi Scanning

We talk about WiFi scanning all the time but is it truly something that people are doing? Several manufactures have now released the WiFi capable scanners and each one has something to offer be it speed, duplex scanning, Android, iPad or iPhone scanning. Plus each one may or may not scan to MAC OS connected via the USB Cable. Most companies are interested in MAC scanners based on our sales throughout the year. Not really sure if they are using the WiFi option.

With that said Canon has introduced the Canon DR-C225W WiFi Scanner. It has fast duplex speeds of 50 images per minute.  As you can see the Canon C225W scanner is a small desktop scanner with the ability to scan hard cards or long documents up to 118 inches in length. The Canon C225W also supports up to 11X17 documents with the Patented “Folio Mode” by Canon.

Canon also posted the following and we believe the NEW Canon C225W will be a great scanner for the small office or someone who is looking for department scanning.

Ideal for your customers in legal, healthcare, financial, real estate, and more, the imageFORMULA DR-C225W scanner will help increase efficiency in small corporate workgroups or small office environments. Using the free downloadable Canon CaptureOnTouch Mobile app, the scanner’s built-in wireless capability will allow your customers to scan across various devices including mobile iOS devices such as iPads® or iPhones® and Android devices to help reduce cable clutter and broaden connectivity options. The DR-C225W scanner also simplifies the scanning process with the bundled CaptureOnTouch software, allowing customers to pre-configure routine jobs for one-touch scanning and be able to scan directly to third-party cloud applications. With a unique upright design, the DR-C225W scanner can conserve desk space and also assist your customers in converting their never-ending piles of paper documents into editable and manageable electronic files.

Canon M1060 11X17 Portable Scanner

Canon introduces the smallest 11X17 business class scanner available on the market!

11X17 scanner, Small Footprint Scanner, Portable 11X17 Scanner
Canon M1060 11X17 Document Scanner

Canon ROCKS the industry with the newest desktop “Native 11X17” Capable Document Scanner.

Why choose the Canon M1060 over the competition? In my personal opinion the M1060 11X17 scanner is going to be the best solution for those customers looking to scan a small amount of 11X17 documents. Plus the New M1060 scanner is not going to break the bank. Keep in mind most 11X17 scanners are made for mid volume production scanning so those scanners cost much more to purchase. The example would be the Canon DR-6030C and the Fujitsu 6670 PSIP Scanners.

Canon DR-6030C, Canon DR6030, Canon 11X17 Scanner, 100 Sheet Document Feeder Scanner
Canon DR-6030C 11X17 Scanner

The Canon 6030C has  a street price of around $3,000.00

PaperStream IP Scanner, PaperStream Capture Scanner, Fujitsu 6670A, Fujitsu 6670 document scanner, High Speed Fujitsu 6670 scanner
Fujitsu 6670 PSIP Scanner

Fujitsu Fi-6670 PSIP Scanner has a street price around $4,200.00

Did I mention it is portable. This small M1060 scanner is small enough to fit in a laptop bag allowing end users to take the portable scanner on the road. Great for construction scanning, portable tax scanning, legal scanning especially for the attorney on the road or in the courtroom, Financial Services, Healthcare and many more.  With the long document mode you will be able to scan documents with lengths up to 118″.  This scanner’s minimalistic design can help to maximize your desk space and leave plenty of room to tackle other important office tasks.

Total Cost of Ownership. The Canon M1060 again will not break the bank. The unit comes with a 1 year manufacture warranty (AUR) this allows the customer complete confidence in scanning for the 1st year and if the scanner does have a manufactured problem the unit will be replaced allowing the customer to be up and running the next day. The customer has the option to purchase POST Warranty service on the Canon M1060 scanner for less than the larger Canon or Fujitsu models. The annual service on the M1060 Scanner is about $445.00 per year or you can opt for the multi year value ad contracts at discounted prices. Replacement Roller Kits can be purchased to ensure proper feeding during the course of the year as needed and are end user replaceable. Thus keeping the cost down and the Total Cost of Ownership minimal. The Canon M1060 scanner is a great low cost scanner for the consumer that has the need for 11X17 scanning down to business card size documents.

Which scanner is right for me?

Fujitsu 6130 High Speed Document ScannerOver the years we have customer who have purchased scanners and those units are just now being replaced by the end users or they are just not working with the current PC/MAC operating system.

How do you know what the right scanner is for you? By asking questions and looking at the past and the current needs we are able to determine the right scanner for your needs. These are just a few questions that we ask to determine the right scanner for your needs.

The most important thing to discover is what your current scanning needs are.

Most of the time we talk about the current scanner you have.

  • What did you like about that scanner?
  • What did you wish it had as your needs have changed over the years.
  • Do you scan the same types of documents compared to when you purchased the scanner
  • Is the current scanner fast enough for you
  • Do you have the need for a larger feeder capacity
  • Do you want to search for text on the document
  • Do you want to edit the text on the document
  • Do you have the need for 11X17 scanning
  • Will multiple people be using this scanner
  • What software are you currently scanning with?

We need to know in order to make sure the software supports the NEW scanners.

Keep in mind we know you probably liked the current scanner and usually have no problem going with the same manufacture all over again. With that said you may want to look at other manufactures just to make sure you are getting the best deal. Today the major scanner manufactures including Canon, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Kodak offer 90 day warranties, 1 year warranties and some even offer 3 year warranties.

The Progression of scanners over the years is hard to follow especially if you are not in the industry. At Scanner One, Inc. we have all of the scanners listed out to show discontinued scanners and then the scanner that replaced the discontinued scanner. In most cases we go back 3 generation of scanners and some cases 4 generations of past scanners.

An examples from Fujitsu would be the 4120/5120/6130/6130Z progression.

If someone purchased the Fujitsu Fi-4120 that scanner was 25 pages per minute. It was replaced by the Fi-5120 that was 25 pages per minute. The Fi-5120 was replaced by the Fujitsu Fi-6130 at 40 pages per minute and that unit was replaced by the Fi-6130Z again 40 pages per minute. Most people would say that is a huge progression over the years especially to go from 25 pages per minute to 40 pages per minute. The cost must have gone up dramatically. That was not the case, Fujitsu increased the speed of these scanners but did not raise the price of the scanners or the service for the scanner.

Canon is the same when it comes to upgrading the scanners. Take the 3060/3080/3080CII/4010/6010/M160.

If you purchased the Canon DR-3060 at 30 pages per minute you were using a state of the art scanner. That unit was replaced by the Canon DR-3080 at 40 pages per minute. Then it was replaced by the 3080CII for USB Connectivity. That unit was replaced by the 4010C again at 40 pages per minute. Then the DR-6010C was introduced at 60 Pages Per minute. Again pricing did not go up and the scanner speeds did. Canon once again followed up with a 60 page per minute scanner at a lower cost. This unit is now called the Canon DR-M160. Most people have a hard time believing you can get a 60 page per minute Duplex Color scanner for under $1,000 (a grand) but you can.

The motto Canon USA is boasting is “MORE for LESS”. I have to say it is working for them.

If you are looking for a replacement scanner and just are not sure what scanner to purchase. Give us a call. We have all of the scanners on our site and can show you the progression from your older discontinued scanner to the current model. We can even cross reference current scanner manufactures to make sure you get the best scanner for your needs.

Don’t forget to ask about our award winning scanner service for your next purchase.

Thank you for your time,

Canon 11×17 Flatbed Scanner Low Cost Option

Canon 11 x 17 Flatbed Scanner optional add on unit

Canon 11 x 17 Flatbed scanner

For years we have been asked to provide a low cost Flatbed option for 11X17 scanning. This has been a problem for manufactures because Canon/Fujitsu/Kodak and Panasonic always wanted to bundle the 11 x 17 flatbed with a scanner that was 70 plus pages per minute. These scanners were large and bulky with a service cost that was priced to match the scanner purchase price. Some of these scanners would cost over $5,000 dollars. In some cases these scanners would cost as much as $8,000.00

Canon has the 11 x 17 Solution!

Canon has a solution for customers looking to scan on a flatbed 11X17 and keep the cost down. The introduction of the Flatbed Unit 201 allows users to pair the Flatbed Unit 201 to any of the following scanners via a USB connection.

In most cases you can purchase the M160 with the flatbed 201 Unit for 11X17 scanning for under $2,000.00

The upside is the Canon M160 is fast at 60 pages per minute and supports up to legal size documents through the feeder. This is great for the ever day scanning of business documents, documents not bound or loose letter documents. Not to mention in most cases the 11X17 Flatbed is always used to scan books, fragile documents, magazines, photos or drawings. Again this is a great 11X17 scanning solution for under $2,000.00

To find out more on the Canon Flatbed 201 11X17 attachment call Scanner One, Inc.

Don’t forget to ask about our award winning service.

This scanner has been around for many years and I would believe Canon to have thousands of installations all over the world. How To Clean The Rollers On A Canon CR-190i

Check out the new video just created by Scanner One.  The video demonstrates how to clean the rollers on a Canon CR-190i.

It’s important to keep the rollers and reading glass clean on your document scanner.  Allowing contaminants such as dust and ink to build up can cause scanned documents to have lines and be unreadable.  The video above shows a quick cleaning of the Canon CR-190i but I’ve also included the steps below.

Quick steps for cleaning the rollers on a Canon CR-190i scanner.  Please contact Scanner One if you need further assistance after reviewing the steps below and watching the video above.

  • Remove the top cover
  • Open front and back covers
  • Use a soft lint free cloth with either rubbing alcohol, mild detergent or water
  • Turn larger rollers with one hand while using the cloth in your other hand to clean
  • Turn larger rollers to rotate the smaller rollers while using the cloth in your other hand to clean
  • Use a Q-Tip if you are unable to reach rollers in small areas
  • Clean the surface of the scanning glass with a dry cloth
  • If you notice scratches on the scanning glass please notify Scanner One for service
  • Close back cover
  • Close two front covers
  • Install top cover
